Alkylation of 3-(p-tolylsulphinylmethyl)-4,5-dihydroisoxazoles, followed by thermal sulphenic acid elimination, afforded 3-(E)-alkenyl-4,5-dihydroisoxazoles in fair to good yields.Starting from enantio- and diastereo-isomerically pure sulphinyl derivatives, stereochemically homogeneous, optically pure, products have been obtained.
