Pseudo-β-DL-fructopyranose has been synthesized from DL-1,2-di-O-acetyl-(1,3/2)-3-bromomethyl-5-cyclohexene-1,2-diol by two reaction routes.The pseudosugar was found to be sweet and this fact provides a strong support for Shallenberger's sweetness-structu
