I is well miscible with epoxy resins and decreases significantly their viscosity, cures rapidly in the presence of amines, is practically nontoxic, is nonvolatile at ambient temp., and is fully incorporated into the cured samples. Cast floors from I-contg. ChS 15 were smooth and glossy and were fully cured in 24 h. High-quality polymer concrete was obtained by blending I-contg. ChS 15 with ￡25% sand.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 37 (Plastics Manufacture and Processing) IR spectroscopic study of curing of epoxy resin ChS 15 [25068-38-6] contg. 15 phr di-Bu maleate (I) [105-76-0] and 14 phr diethylenetriamine (II) [111-40-0] at 25 ± 1° showed that the reactions occurring in the system involved addn. of aminic groups to epoxy groups of the resin and double bonds of I as well as aminolysis of ester bonds of I. A 40% aminolysis of ester groups was obsd. after 24-h curing, but the conversion of ester groups decreased by a factor of 2 on decreasing the amt. of II in the system from 13 to 11 phr. However, at lower II concn., the curing rate also decreased.
