One unknown compd. was also detected as the degrdn. product. Solid I was stable at room temp. in tight or open containers and under indoor light for up to 24 mo, and at 40° and 80% RH for up to 6 mo.

The apparent activation energy for the decompn. was 18 kcal/mol from the Arrhenius plot. The degrdn. products were detected by thin-layer chromatog. Dehydroepiandrosterone [53-43-0] and androsta-3,5-dien-17-one [1912-63-6] were the products at acidic pH, and cycloandrostan-6b-ol-17-one [663-39-8] and dehydroepiandrosterone were detected at neutral and weak alk. regions.
