DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) Selected ion monitoring (SIM) in combination with retention time measurement is frequently used for the detn. of the carcinogen bis(chloromethyl) ether (BCME) [542-88-1] in air. However, 1-chloro-2-propanol [127-00-4] produced the same characteristic mass fragments and had the same retention time on SE-30 column as BCME. Hence, this compd. could be mistaken as BCME under these circumstances.

Higher amts. of radioactivity (in relation to % of administered dose) were recovered in the fat, urine, and feces of rat, whereas higher quantities were found in the muscle and liver of the monkey. 1-Chloro-2-propanol [127-00-4], propylene oxide [75-56-9], and 2-(1-methyl-2-chloroethoxy)propionic acid [65345-17-7] were the urinary metabolites detected in the rat.
