DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 40 (Textiles) Baicalin [21967-41-9], miricitrin [88232-62-6], quercetin [117-39-5] and rutin [153-18-4] were used as natural dyes. Adsorption of the dyes on silk was of the Langmuir type and was an exothermic reaction. Adsorption isotherms of Al ion for mordants on silk were of the BET type, and were of the Langmuir type from initial adsorption to equil. adsorption, at which time the amt. corresponded to the amt. of carboxy end groups in silk. Adsorption of dyes on silk mordanted with Al ion was also of the Langmuir type, and the amt. of satd. adsorption was 3.1 ′ 10-4 mol/g, which corresponded to the summation of the amts. of carboxy end groups and of amino end groups in silk. In the case of rutin, the relationship between the dye uptake and pH resembled that in the acid dye-silk system.
