DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 33 (Carbohydrates) The reaction of 5'-UMP with alkyl iodides under strongly alk.There are some reagents like 3387-36-8 is used in this study. conditions gave predominantly ribose-alkylated derivs. some of which were isolated as their Na salts. Thus, reaction with MeI and EtI gave UMP derivs. I (R, R1 = Me, Et, R2 = H), whereas reaction with PrI gave I (R = Pr, R1 = H, Pr, R2 = H) and reaction with Me2CHI gave I (R = R2 = H, R1 = CHMe2; R = R1 = H, R2 = CHMe2). The structures of the products have been assigned by using UV spectroscopy, paper electrophoresis, 1H-NMR spectroscopy and fast-atom bombardment mass spectrometry in the neg. ion mode. .
