DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Compds. possessing insect juvenile hormone activity (farnesol [4602-84-0] and derivs. of farnesol, geraniol, 1-phenylnonane, and 1-phenyl-2,6-nonadiene) inhibited the in vitro development of exsheathed, third-stage H. contortus larvae. Although all 4 compd. types were active, the farnesol derivs. were most inhibitory. Compds. with 12-15-atom (carbon and oxygen) chains caused larval arrest and were also larvicidal, whereas compds. with 10-atom chains were much less active. Dietary administration of the compds. did not affect the development of Ascaris suum or Nematospirodies dubius in mice. .
