DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Section cross-reference(s): 1 The toxicol. and anthelmintic properties of phenasal (I) [50-65-7] with decreased m.p. and increased ash content were compared with those of the conventional I. Tests were conducted on 200 rats. There were no differences in the anthelmintic activity between the 2 forms of I.

- Niclosamide suspension formulations. Bauer, Kurt; Fetting, Karl Ernst; Goennert, Rudolf; Thomas, Herbert; Voege, Herbert (Bayer A.-G., Ger.). Ger. Offen. DE 2557615 23 Jun 1977, 15 pp. (German). (Germany). CODEN: GWXXBX. CLASS: IC: A61K031-165. APPLICATION: DE 75-2557615 20 Dec 1975. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Oil-based suspensions of niclosamide (I) [50-65-7] or its salts in which 350% of the I had particles <2 m in diam. were prepd. Surfactants may be added to the suspensions. These suspensions had high anthelmintic activity and very high stability. E.g., a 20% I conc. in low viscosity paraffin was ground to a particle size such that ~50% of the particles were smaller than 1 m. A 4% wt./vol. I suspension in liq. paraffin contg. 3% lecithin was prepd. from the conc. and this suspension was stable and easily administrable. The resultant suspension was much more effective than previously known I formulations in controlling Hymenolepsis nana in mice.
