Interfering ions were removed as follows: Fe by complexing with thioglycolic acid [68-11-1], S2- by digestion with H2O2, and traces of Cr, Co, and Cu by the CSN 420620 method (only when required). The effect of F- could be eliminated by correcting the calibration curve. The method could detect 0.0086 mg/L Al. The std. deviation at 4.054 Al/L concn. was 1.8%. .
