Thus, a mixt. contg. DMF 71.95, I 26.0, Me acrylate 1.7, Na allylsulfonate 0.25, NH4 peroxydisulfonate 0.05, Ac2O 0.025, and oxalic acid 0.025 parts and 0.5% Na p-toluenesulfonate [657-84-1] was kept at 44° for 20 h and worked up to give a stabilized copolymer (II) [25053-78-5] having whitness index 94.4 and 82.9% after coagulation and after thermal treatment, resp., compared to 89.7 and 76.6%, resp., for unstabilized II.
