(kd) of Bz2O2 [94-36-0] and its sym. p-substituted Br, Cl, and Me derivs. were detd. at 353 and 363 K in 1:1 mixts. of PhCl with styrene (I) [100-42-5], Me methacrylate (II) [80-62-6], and vinyl acetate (III) [108-05-4] and, for comparison, in pure PhCl.Several substances like 1712-82-9 may be metioned in this study. From these data the initiation efficiencies (fi) of polymn. were calcd. The kd were higher in PhCl-monomer mixts. than in pure PhCl. The highest kd were in III mixts. (for Bz2O2 and its Cl and Br derivs. or in I mixts. [for (p-methylbenzoyl) peroxide (IV) [895-85-2]]. The kd in II mixts. were the lowest (except for pure PhCl) for all catalysts. The fi of Bz2O2 and IV in polymn. of I were higher than in polymn. of II, and the opposite was obsd. for fi of Br and Cl derivs. of Bz2O2. .
