The 2-Butanone,1,1-dichloro-3,3-dimethyl-, with the CAS registry number 22591-21-5, is also known as Dichloropinacolin. Its EINECS number is 245-111-7. This chemical's molecular formula is C6H10Cl2O and molecular weight is 169.05. What's more, its systematic name is 1,1-dichloro-3,3-dimethylbutan-2-one. It is mainly used as medicine and pesticide intermediates, especially an intermediate of phytocide Metribuzin.

Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by 3,3-dimethyl-butan-2-one at the temperature of 70 °C. This reaction will need reagents benzyltrimethylammonium tetrachloroiodate, acetic acid with the reaction time of 3 hours. The yield is about 47%.

Uses of 2-Butanone,1,1-dichloro-3,3-dimethyl-: it can be used to produce 1-tert-butyl-2,2-dichlorovinyl ethyl phosphorochloridite at the temperature of 20 °C. It will need reagent Et3N. The yield is about 72%.
