Uses of 2-(2-Bromoethyl)-1,3-dioxolane: It can react with pyridine-3-carbaldehyde to produce 3-[1,3]dioxolan-2-yl-1-pyridin-3-yl-propan-1-ol. This reaction will need reagent Mg, and the solvent tetrahydrofuran. And the yield is about 90%.         

2-(2-Bromoethyl)-1,3-dioxolane can react with pyridine-3-carbaldehyde to produce 3-[1,3]dioxolan-2-yl-1-pyridin-3-yl-propan-1-ol
