Ammonium chloroplatinate Specification

The systematic name of this chemical is diammonium hexachloroplatinate(2-). With the CAS registry number 16919-58-7 and EINECS 240-973-0, it is also named as Ammonium platinic chloride. The product's category is Inorganics. It is yellow cubic crystal which is highly toxic and forms intensely yellow solutions in water. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of Cl, NOx, and NH3. So the storage environment should be well-ventilated, low-temperature and dry.

Preparation and Uses of Ammonium hexachloroplatinate: It can be obtained by treating a solution of hexachloroplatinic acid with a solution of an ammonium salt. This chemical is used in platinum plating and as analytical reagent. Heating Ammonium hexachloroplatinate under a stream of hydrogen at 200 °C produces platinum sponge. Treating this with chlorine gives H2PtCl6.

When you are using this chemical, please be cautious about it as the following:
It is not only toxic if swallowed, but also may cause sensitization by inhalation and skin contact. And it has risk of serious damage to the eyes. So people should not breathe dust. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. If you want to contact this product, you must wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection. In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show the label whenever possible.)

People can use the following data to convert to the molecule structure.
1. SMILES:[NH4+].[NH4+].Cl[Pt-2](Cl)(Cl)(Cl)(Cl)Cl
2. InChI:InChI=1/6ClH.2H3N.Pt/h6*1H;2*1H3;/q;;;;;;;;+4/p-4/rCl6Pt.2H3N/c1-7(2,3,4,5)6;;/h;2*1H3/q-2;;/p+2
