The 2-chlorovinyl esters of the three chloroacetic acids have been prepared and their E and Z isomers separated with preparative GLC. 2-Chlorovinyl acetate was prepared from 2,2-dichlorovinyl acetate by reduction with tributyltin hydride, whereas the other acetates wereprepared by ester exchange from 2-chlorovinyl acetate using tributyltin methoxide as a transfer agent.
