Preparation and proposed structure for bis[bis(dimethylamino)bromoborane]-tris(titanium tetrabromide)
Treatment of [(CH3)2N]2BBr with TiBr4 affords {[(CH3)2N]2BBr}2{TiBr 4}3. The stoichiometry of the latter was established by determination of the reactant ratio and by nucleophilic degradation affording TiBr4·N(CH3)3 and [(CH3)2N]2BBr. A structure is proposed for {[(CH3)2N]2BBr}2{TiBr 4}3 based on infrared assignments and the unusual stoichiometry of this compound.
