Preparation and proposed structure for bis[bis(dimethylamino)bromoborane]-tris(titanium tetrabromide)

Treatment of [(CH₃)₂N]₂BBr with TiBr₄ affords {[(CH₃)₂N]₂BBr}₂{TiBr ₄}₃. The stoichiometry of the latter was established by determination of the reactant ratio and by nucleophilic degradation affording TiBr₄·N(CH₃)₃ and [(CH₃)₂N]₂BBr. A structure is proposed for {[(CH₃)₂N]₂BBr}₂{TiBr ₄}₃ based on infrared assignments and the unusual stoichiometry of this compound.
