80-13-7 Usage
Uses
Used in Water Treatment Industry:
Halazone is used as a water disinfectant for the purpose of purifying drinking water. Its effectiveness in killing bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens ensures the safety and quality of the water supply.
Originator
Clordiapenser,Molteni Farmaceutici SpA.
Manufacturing Process
20 kg p-aminosulfonyl benzoic acid was mixed with 400 L 0.5 N NaOCl. After
an acidification with 100 L 1 N acetic acid, a precipitate dropped out. It was
filtered off, washed and dried. The obtained 4-((dichloroamino)sulfonyl)
benzoic acid had MP: 203°C.
Therapeutic Function
Antiseptic, Antiseptic
Air & Water Reactions
Insoluble in water.
Fire Hazard
Flash point data for Halazone are not available, but Halazone is probably combustible.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 80-13-7 includes 5 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 2 digits, 8 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 80-13:
(4*8)+(3*0)+(2*1)+(1*3)=37
37 % 10 = 7
So 80-13-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
