Retinoid Receptor agonists

Retinoid receptor agonists are compounds that activate retinoid receptors, such as retinoic acid receptors (RARs) and retinoid X receptors (RXRs). These receptors are nuclear receptors involved in mediating the biological effects of retinoids, which are derivatives of vitamin A. When activated, retinoid receptors regulate gene expression, influencing various cellular processes like cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. Therapeutically, retinoid receptor agonists are used in dermatology for treating conditions such as acne and psoriasis, where they help regulate skin cell turnover and reduce inflammation. In oncology, they are explored for their potential in differentiation therapy, aiming to induce cancer cell maturation and inhibit proliferation.
