AhR modulators

Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) modulators are compounds that interact with the AhR, a ligand-activated transcription factor found in various cells and tissues. AhR modulators can act as agonists, stimulating AhR activity upon binding, or as antagonists, inhibiting AhR signaling. The AhR plays a crucial role in regulating genes involved in detoxification, immune response, and cellular differentiation. Endogenous ligands for AhR include dietary compounds, environmental pollutants like dioxins, and metabolites derived from tryptophan. Modulators of AhR activity are studied for their potential therapeutic applications in conditions ranging from inflammatory diseases to cancer, as well as for their roles in toxicology and environmental health.
