Rho inhibitor

Rho inhibitors refer to a class of compounds that target the Rho family of small GTPases, which include RhoA, RhoB, and RhoC. These GTPases are critical regulators of actin cytoskeleton dynamics and are involved in various cellular processes such as cell migration, proliferation, and morphology. Rho inhibitors function by blocking the activation of Rho GTPases, typically by inhibiting the exchange of GDP for GTP, which is necessary for their activation. By disrupting Rho GTPase signaling, these inhibitors can affect downstream pathways involved in cytoskeletal rearrangement and cell motility. In cancer, aberrant activation of Rho GTPases is often associated with increased cell migration and invasion, contributing to metastasis. Therefore, Rho inhibitors have attracted interest as potential therapeutic agents for inhibiting cancer cell metastasis and potentially enhancing the efficacy of conventional cancer treatments.
