    Detailed information:
    A type of luminescence in which the emission of radiation resulting from excitation of a crystalline or liquid material occurs after excitation has ceased and may last from a fraction of a second to an hour or more. This phenomenon is characteristic of some organic compounds, as in the firefly, and also of a number of inorganic solid materials, both natural and synthetic.
    Use:
    Industrially as phosphors.
