Tropone tosylhydrazone sodium salt, the precursor of the cyclic conjugated carbene (cycloheptartienylidene), was decomposed in the presence of various cyclopentadienone derivatives to give endo- and exo-<4+2>-type adducts and benzotropylidene derivatives.
