From the rhizome of Hypoxis nyasica a new monoglucoside, the 1-(3',4'-dihydroxyphenyl)-5-(3'',4''-dihydroxyphenyl)-1-hydroxy-2-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-pentan-4-yne named nyasicoside, was isolated and its structure elucidated by chemical and spectroscopic methods.
