A new and general method for synthesis of optically active β-alkylhomoallyl alcohols and γ,δ-epoxy-β-alkyl secondary alcohols starting with Δ(α,β)-butenolides having trimethylsilyl and phenylthio group at α-position, respectively, has been developed.
