Propellanes, VIII: A New Synthesis of Bis-Propellanes. 1,2,4,5-Bispropella(3',4')>benzene

The synthesis of the title compound 3 is reported.We have shown that from two possibilities (bis-propellane 3, tetra-spirane 3') the general reaction leads only to a bis-propellane system 3. 3 exists as an equilibrium of two conformers with C_2v and C_2h symmetry, respectively.Keywords: Bis-Propellanes; Durene; Polycyclic compounds.
