Synthesis and condensation reactions of 1-amino-1-deoxy-2,3,4-tri- O-methyl-5-O-[(pentachlorophenoxy) phthaloyl]-L-arabinitol

1-Amino-1-deoxy-2,3,4-tri-O-methyl-5-O-[(pentachlorophenoxy)phthaloyl]-L -arabinitol hydrochloride was prepared from L-arabinose, and its inter- and intra-molecular condensation reactions were studied, In these reactions, a mixture of oligomers (in HMPA: 30%) besides the monomeric compound 2,3,4-tri-O-methyl-1-deoxy-1-phthalimido-L-arabinitol (in HMPA: 51%) were obtained.
