(E)-1-Benzotriazolyl-3-(phenylsulphonyl)-1-propene (6) has been synthesized and its alkylation was studied. The results showed that the phenylsulphonyl group is a more powerful α-directing group than the benzotriazolyl group in the corresponding 1,3-dihetero-stabilized allyl anion.
