A 'combinatorial catalysis' strategy was utilized to both rapidly synthesize organometallic complexes and to screen them for catalytic activity in chemical reactions. The application of this strategy has yielded several metal-complexes that catalyze the hydrolysis of carboxylic acid esters efficiently.
