Treatment of 6-benzoylbenzimidazole-2-thiol (1) and 3-amino-6-benzoylthiazolo[3,2-a]-benzimidazole-2-carbonitrile (3) with various reagents under different conditions is reported to afford cyclized and uncydized compounds of potential pharmacological interest.
