Trans-bicyclo<6.1.0>nonatriene 1 isomerizes thermally to the unknown 3,4-homoheptafulvene 2.A degenerate cyclopropane-walk-rearrangement detected with the aid of opt.-act.-1a precedes the structural isomerization.In both processes diradical exo-7 is considered to be an intermediate.
