A facile beckmann rearrangement of oximes with AlCl3 in the solid state

A facile and efficient synthetic procedure, for Beckmann rearrangement of oximes with AlCl₃ in the absence of solvent is developed. We have been able to convert cyclohexanone oxime to εcaprolactam in a quantitative yield.
