KOH (12 g, 0.21 mol) in water (100 mL); the resulting mixture
was kept at 80 °C for 2 h and then cooled to room temperature.
The precipitate of potassium dinitromethane was filtered,
washed with 10-15 mL of cold water, and dried to give 6.2 g
(0.044 mol, 85%) of pure potassium dinitromethane (6), which

acetylurea (4b) (10 g, 0.052 mol) dissolved in water (50 mL)
was added dropwise to a solution of KOH (2.7 g, 0.05mol) in

the reaction mixture was heated to 30 °C for 10 min. Cooled
diisopropyl ether (30 mL) was added and a white precipitate
was formed. The precipitate was collected, washed with
ethanol, and dried, yielding the morpholine salt of 1-(2,2-
Dinitroacetyl)-3-(morpholine-4-carbonyl)urea (12) as a complex

resulting in a yellow solution, which was concentrated to 5
mL; hexane (20 mL) was added to the solution and a yellow
precipitate was formed. The precipitate was collected and
dried, yielding 1-(2,2-dinitroacetyl)-3-(carbonyl ethyl ester)urea
