Benzyltriphenylphosphonium peroxomonosulfate (BnPh₃P⁺HSO₅^-) (1) is used as a new reagent for oxidative deprotection of trimethylsilyl and tetrahydropyranyl ethers and ethylene acetals to afford carbonyl compounds in refluxing acetonitrile in the presence of bismuth chloride.
