Conclusion
To conclude, asymmetric glycolate alkylation and Claisen
rearrangement are used as key steps for the total synthesis of 8-
O.6’neolignan (1), Rhaphidecursinol A (17) and Virolongin B (19)
and the synthesis completed in 10, 5 and 7 steps respectively with
high overall yields and excellent enantioselectivity. The general
nature of scheme can be extrapolated toward the synthesis of various
other neolignans.
