Synthesis of p-Di[1-13C]ethoxybenzene from [1-13C]iodoethane with high labeling efficiency

p-Di[1-¹³C]ethoxybenzene was synthesized in high yield and with high labeling efficiency from hydroquinone and [1-¹³C]iodoethane in the presence of a base in dry acetone. Some p-[1-¹³C]ethoxyphenol was also formed, from which further p-di[1-¹³C]ethoxybenzene could be synthesized.
