these processes are dependent upon the cation present. Dehy-
droxylation takes place in a series of three to four steps. The
temperatures of the dehydroxylation show some cation depen-
dence. Desulphation for K-alunite occurs at 680 ◦C, Na-alunite
at 644 and 733 ◦C and for NH4 alunite at 640, 689 and 799 ◦C.
