The influence of the nature of active sites and the crystalline structure of solids on the photooxidative cleavage of adsorbed α-methylstryrenehave been studied.On acid solids,oxidation to PhCOCH3 takes place on electron-ecceptor sites.On basic solids it occurs on electrondonor sites.The microcrystalline solids are more active than the amorphous ones.
