The preparation of methyl 9-iodo-perfluorononanoate: An access to reverse fluorinated amphiphiles

ω-Functionalized F-alkyl iodides are useful building blocks of compounds containing perfluroalkyl segments in an inner position. A convenient and effective synthesis of methyl 9-iodoperfluorononanoate, a precursor molecule of this kind, is described, as well as the synthesis of a member of a new class of amphiphiles, revere F-amphiphiles.
