Potassium sodium tartrate Specification

The Sodium potassium tartrate, with the CAS registry number 304-59-6 and EINECS registry number 206-156-8, has the systematic name of potassium sodium 2,3-dihydroxybutanedioate. It is often supplied as a colourless aqueous solution. And the molecular formula of this chemical is C4H4KNaO6.The Sodium potassium tartrate and monopotassium phosphate were the first materials discovered to exhibit piezoelectricity, and this property led to its extensive use in "crystal" gramophone (phono) pick-ups, microphones and earpieces during the post-War consumer electronics boom of the mid-20th Century. It is slightly soluble in alcohol but more completely soluble in water.

The physical properties of Potassium sodium tartrate are as followings:
(1)ACD/LogP: -1.43; (2)# of Rule of 5 Violations: 0; (3)ACD/LogD (pH 5.5): -6; (4)ACD/LogD (pH 7.4): -6; (5)ACD/BCF (pH 5.5): 1; (6)ACD/BCF (pH 7.4): 1; (7)ACD/KOC (pH 5.5): 1; (8)ACD/KOC (pH 7.4): 1; (9)#H bond acceptors: 6; (10)#H bond donors: 4; (11)#Freely Rotating Bonds: 5; (12)Polar Surface Area: 93.06 Å2; (13)Flash Point: 209.4 °C; (14)Enthalpy of Vaporization: 75.13 kJ/mol; (15)Boiling Point: 399.3 °C at 760 mmHg; (16)Vapour Pressure: 4.93E-08 mmHg at 25°C.

Preparation of Potassium sodium tartrate:
It can be prepared by adding 0.5 mol sodium carbonate to heated solution containing 1 mol potassium bitartrate. The solution is filtered while hot. Then dried the solution to precipitate solid potassium sodium tartrate, as small crystallites.

Uses of Potassium sodium tartrate:
It is used medicinally as a laxative. And it is also used in the process of silvering mirrors. What's more, it is an ingredient of Fehling's solution, and formerly used in the determination of reducing sugars in solutions.

Uses of Potassium sodium tartrate:
You should be cautious while dealing with this chemical. It may causes severe burns. Therefore, you had better take the following instructions: Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection, and in case of contacting with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. And in case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show label where possible).

You can still convert the following datas into molecular structure:
(1)SMILES: [K+].[Na+].O=C([O-])C(O)C(O)C([O-])=O
(2)InChI: InChI=1/C4H6O6.K.Na/c5-1(3(7)8)2(6)4(9)10;;/h1-2,5-6H,(H,7,8)(H,9,10);;/q;2*+1/p-2
(3)InChIKey: LJCNRYVRMXRIQR-NUQVWONBAG
