A recyclable magnetic nanoparticles supported antimony catalyst for the synthesis of N-substituted pyrroles in water

The study presents the development and evaluation of a recyclable magnetic nanoparticle-supported antimony catalyst for the synthesis of N-substituted pyrroles in water. The catalyst, prepared by immobilizing antimony onto magnetic nanoparticles coated with silica and ionic liquid, was designed for the Clauson-Kaas reaction, a chemical process for producing N-substituted pyrroles, which are important nitrogen-containing heterocycles with applications in natural products, synthetic materials, and medicinal chemistry. The chemicals used in the study include 1-methyl-3-(trimethoxysilylpropyl)-imidazolium chloride, anhydrous SbCl3, and various amines and tetrahydro-2,5-dimethoxyfuran, which served as reactants in the catalytic reaction. The purpose of these chemicals was to synthesize a variety of N-substituted pyrroles with high yields and to demonstrate the efficiency and recyclability of the magnetic nanoparticle-supported antimony catalyst in an aqueous medium, which is significant for sustainable chemical processes.
