Sodium caseinate is a milk derivative (protein), though it's classified as a non-dairy product because when sodium caseinate is processed, it is so materially altered that both dairy scientists and government regulators no longer regard it as a true dairy substance.

5. Side Effects of Sodium caseinate
A possible allergic reaction to sodium caseinate is the most likely cause for concern. Since casein is a protein found in milk, if you have a milk allergy you will need to be aware of the exact type of allergy you have. Moreover, any product that contains sodium caseinate has the risk of cross contamination with other milk allergens, such as lactose and whey. 

6. Use of Sodium caseinate
Sodium caseinate is used as food supplements – they improve nutrition features, taste and smell, increase the shelf life and enrich products with organic amino-acids. They are used in meat, bakery and confectioner industry, production of food and pharmaceutical concentrates, drinks and dietetic products. What's more, sodium caseinate is also used for purification of wine and juices and for production of liqueurs.
