Activation of the Donor

The glycosyl donor, typically an S-glycopyranosyl phosphorodiamidimidothioate, is prepared and activated. Activation involves the conversion of the sugar into a more reactive form, often involving the use of reagents such as N-iodosuccinimide (NIS) or trifluoromethanesulfonic anhydride (Tf2O).
