Zinc fluoride Specification

The CAS registry number of Zinc fluoride is 7783-49-5. The IUPAC name is difluorozinc. Its EINECS registry number is 232-001-9. In addition, the molecular formula is F2Zn and the molecular weight is 103.41. It is an inorganic chemical compound and belongs to the classes of Inorganics; Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry; Chemical Synthesis; Salts; Zinc Salts; ZincMetal and Ceramic Science. And it has a high melting point and has the rutile structure containing 6 coordinate zinc, which suggests appreciable ionic character in its chemical bonding. What's more, it can be used as analysis reagent and impregnant of wood. It should be stored in sealed container, and put them in a cool and dry place.

Physical properties about Zinc fluoride are: (1)H-Bond Acceptor: 2 ; (2)Exact Mass: 101.925953 ; (3)MonoIsotopic Mass: 101.925953 ; (4)Heavy Atom Count: 3 ; (5)Complexity: 2.8 ; (6)Covalently-Bonded Unit Count: 1 ; (7)Polar Surface Area: 0 Å2 ; (8)Enthalpy of Vaporization: 25.54 kJ/mol; (9)Boiling Point: 19.5 °C at 760 mmHgVapour Pressure: 922 mmHg at 25°C.

Preparation of Zinc fluoride: Add carbonate zinc to excess hot hydrofluoric acid, it will form a clear solution at first. If continue to add the carbonate zinc, it will exhalate white opaque fluoride zinc crystal. And it can be prepared by zinc metal with fluorine gas. In addition, the reaction of hydrofluoric acid with zinc can yield hydrogen gas and zinc fluoride.

When you are using this chemical, please be cautious about it as the following:
