Tellurium tetrabromide with CAS registry number of 10031-27-3 is an inorganic chemical compound, also known as Tellurium bromide (TeBr4), (T-4)- . It is yellow-orange crystals with a similar tetrameric structure to TeCl4 . It can be made by reaction of bromine with tellurium . Tellurium tetrabromide is a conductor when molten, dissociating into the ions TeBr3+ and Br- . Solutions in benzene and toluene are non conducting and the product is present as the tetramer. However, in solvents with donor properties, complexes are formed which can make the solution conducting.
