Preparation of Benzaldehyde,4-ethoxy-2-hydroxy-: it is prepared by reaction of iodoethane with 2,4-dihydroxy-benzaldehyde. The reaction needs reagent KOH and solvent ethanol at the temperature of 60 for 1 hour. The yield is about 47%.
Uses of Benzaldehyde,4-ethoxy-2-hydroxy-: it is used to produce 5-ethoxy-2-[(4-pentyl-phenylimino)-methyl]-phenol by reaction with 4-pentyl-aniline. The reaction occurs with solvent ethanol and other condition of heating for 2.5 hours. The yield is about 51%.
