The Clove oil is an organic compound with the formula with the CAS registry number 8000-34-8, It is also named as Clove stem oil. Besides, it is a colourless to pale yellow liquid with a characteristic smell.
Preparation: Clove oil (CAS NO.8000-34-8) can be derived from dry unopened buds of the Myrtaceae clove (Eugenia cnryophyzlata or E. Aromatica) by steam distillation. Yield is 15% ~ 21%. If using water distillation, the yield was about 10% to 15%, and eugenol content is lower than the former. It mainly producted in Zambia and Madagascar, and also produced in Guangdong and Fujian of china.
Uses of Clove oil: it can be used for anti-corrosion and oral medicine disinfection, and in industry is mainly used for the preparation of toothpaste and soap flavor or used as raw material for synthetic vanillin.
