The synthesis of 9-substituted(phenoxy, alkoxy, 2/4-pyrimidylamino and 2/4-pyrimidyloxy)acridines (2-9), 9-acridines (13-17) and 9-acridines (20, 22 and 23) has been carried out starting from appropriate 9-substituted acridines.None of these compounds show promising anticancer activity against 3 PS 31 test system and antiamoebic activity against E. histolytica.
