Petunidin chloride is the chloride salt of Petunidin, an anthocyanin pigment that contributes to the bluish color in flowers such as the Petunia hybrida and in fruits such as blueberries. Petunidin is an O-methylated anthocyanidin derived from delphinidin that imparts blue-red pigments to flowers, fruits, and red wine. It has been shown to bind with and suppress the activity of focal adhesion kinase and to inhibit platelet-derived growth factor-induced aortic smooth muscle cell migration, which may confer a protective effect against atherosclerosis.

1429-30-7 Usage

Uses

Used in Pharmaceutical Applications:
Petunidin chloride is used as a therapeutic agent for its potential protective effects against atherosclerosis. Its ability to bind with and suppress the activity of focal adhesion kinase and inhibit platelet-derived growth factor-induced aortic smooth muscle cell migration makes it a promising candidate for treating cardiovascular diseases.
Used in Anticancer Applications:
Petunidin chloride is used as an anticancer agent, particularly in the suppression of the proliferation of an HCT116 colon cancer cell line and colon cancer stem cells. Extracts from E. jambolana fruit, which is rich in anthocyanins including petunidin, have demonstrated this effect, making it a potential compound for cancer treatment and prevention.
Used in Food Industry:
Petunidin chloride is used as a natural colorant in the food industry to impart blue-red pigments to various products. Its presence in flowers, fruits, and red wine highlights its potential as a safe and natural alternative to synthetic colorants.
Used in Cosmetics Industry:
Due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, Petunidin chloride can be used as an active ingredient in the cosmetics industry for skincare products, targeting anti-aging and skin protection against environmental stressors.

Safety Profile

Poison by intravenous route. Moderately toxic by intraperitoneal route. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and irritating fumes.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 1429-30-7 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 1,4,2 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 0 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1429-30:
(6*1)+(5*4)+(4*2)+(3*9)+(2*3)+(1*0)=67
67 % 10 = 7
So 1429-30-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
